Facts and Questions
-
Smoke and Hat Press is a New York–based independent bindery and publisher focused on espionage fiction and classic spy novels. We design and build books by hand — leatherbound Signature Editions, clothbound Forgotten Files, re-bound Basement Archives, and junior spy kits and books under Smoke and Hat Junior.
-
Every book is printed, sewn, bound, and finished in our 7th-floor New York bindery. We use quality materials, sewn bookbinding techniques, and leather or cloth that’s meant to outlast us all.
-
Signature Editions are handcrafted, leatherbound spy novels — often paired with a companion text or archival material. They’re our premium collector’s line.
-
Forgotten Files revive rare, obscure, or out-of-print spy novels as clothbound editions. Think hidden gems of espionage literature, rescued from the shadows.
-
Basement Archives are re-bound paperback spy novels and pulp classics, given new life as durable, collectible editions while keeping their original grit.
-
Smoke and Hat Junior is our line of spy-themed books, activity kits, and DIY bookbinding projects for young readers and budding bookbinders.
-
